Quick Ways to Brighten Up Your Garden
Autumn is a lovely time of year and many people’s favourite season, but it’s also when the leaves fall from the trees and many plants disappear for a while. With this in mind, we’ve put together some quick and easy tips for brightening up your garden.
Add lots of colour
Though most flowers will no longer be in bloom, there are other ways to add a splash of colour to gardens large and small. A fast and affordable way to make a big difference is with colourful plant pots and other decorations scattered around the place. Maybe you could even paint your garden fence or wall a lovely sunny shade that will bring a smile to your face each time you see it?
Install some outdoor lighting
Short days and cloudy weather means very little light during the autumn and winter months, so we suggest adding some outdoor lighting. This could be anything from small lamps that line a garden path to long strings of fairy lights criss-crossing above your green space.
To save on electricity and prevent the need for a socket, make sure to choose solar-powered outdoor lights, which come in a variety of styles, sizes and colours.
Choose artificial grass
Whilst a real lawn is a beautiful thing to behold, excessive rainfall can cause it to become a bit of a mud bath. That’s why we also specialise in the installation of artificial grass, which looks great all year round and is designed to be pet-friendly.
We use only the highest standard of fake grass that’s guaranteed to be hardwearing, soft to the touch and UV-resistant, resulting in it lasting for many years to come. If you’re interested in a lawn that stays a luscious green every month of the year, make sure to ask us about our artificial grass.
Attract local wildlife
Another great way to brighten up your garden is by making it a welcoming haven for local wildlife. From birds and newts to snails and insects, there are loads of ways to encourage small creatures to visit your garden and make it their home.
A classic way to do this is with a bird bath and a few bird boxes, which can also add extra colour if you choose particularly jazzy ones. You could also add all kinds of bug hotels, which look quirky and playful when attached to a wall or fence. Then of course there are small habitats that you can make yourself, such as piles of twigs and dead leaves that are warm and cosy for shrews and hedgehogs – just make sure not to disturb them after they’ve nestled in.
Make it a comfy place to relax
Is there anything more cosy than spending a clear evening in the garden with a log fire, twinkling lights and a mug of hot chocolate? By adding some cushions and blankets, you can make your back garden the perfect spot for watching the stars and chatting with loved ones into the early hours.
