As you may have guessed, we absolutely love helping our customers to make the most of their gardens and green spaces. But that’s not where our passion ends, as we’re also huge fans of houseplants because they really do add life to a home.

With this in mind, we thought it would make a nice change to bring the outdoors indoors and talk about some of our favourite houseplants that are particularly easy to look after. We guarantee that adding at least one to every room will cheer up the place and benefit your daily wellbeing.

Spider plant

Let’s start with a popular classic that’s super easy to grow. Spider plants are great because they can handle cool temperatures, so they’re perfect for British homes. They also look amazing when hanging in a pot, as the grassy leaves arch over like a spider’s legs, only with a much nicer appearance.

The spider plant is also very easy to look after, as you only need to water it once a week. Make sure to check the soil first – if it’s moist, wait another day before watering.

Aloe vera

A truly fascinating plant that complements all types of home decor, aloe vera (pcitured above) is ideally suited to bright spots and only needs watering every couple of weeks. All moisture is stored in the aloe vera plant’s leaves as opposed to in the soil, so if the soil looks dry, it doesn’t necessarily mean it needs to be watered. Instead, consult the leaves – if they appear a bit droopy, give the plant a drink.

What’s more, the aloe vera plant monitors your air quality. It will display brown spots if the air is heavily polluted with unwanted chemicals, usually given off by harsh cleaning products and heavy traffic near your home.

Peace lily

The perfect combination of house plant and floral decoration, the peace lily is another very low-maintenance addition to the home. The luscious green leaves and delicate white petals can really perk up a dull room, so try one next to your bed, in the centre of the dining table or anywhere else that will bring maximum enjoyment.

The peace lily is well-known for reducing toxins in the air, which is great if you spend a lot of time in one room, such as a home office. Aside from looking beautiful, the plant will soak up nasty particles and leave your living environment feeling fresh.

Snake plant

The leaves of the snake plant really do look amazing, making it a solid choice for any room that could do with a bit of extra colour and life. It also doesn’t need much light or water to survive, so it’s wonderful for people with busy schedules.

A powerful oxygenator, the snake plant absorbs unpleasant CO2 particles and releases fresh air during the night, which can help you to enjoy a better night’s sleep. Just make sure to keep the leaves clean, as dust on their surface can stop a snake plant from absorbing much-needed light.
